I saw a chart in The Economist showing the list of national gov'ts that
Labour has formed in the post WWII era. If those elections had been decided
only by the vote of people in England then _half_ of those Labour P.M.s
would have been sitting on the opposition benches instead.

The point is that in close contests Scotland frequently has swung the
results to the Labour side.
