TR> Where did you get such an idea? That's how we find stolen cars,
TR> wanted people, improperly registered or non-registered vehicles,
TR> stolen license plates, etc. This is part of their jobs, and they are
TR> supposed to be involved in law enforcement activities when they are
RB> Hm, I question the legality (under 'selective enforcement') of running
RB> the plates of parked cars in a black neighborhood to find criminals.
Question all you wish under any philosophy you wish, the police can and do
check tags on a frequent basis, not just in black neighborhoods. Furthermore,
the car doesn't have to be parked in any neighborhood, it can be moving. Look
real hard for something that says they can't, but I wouldn't suggest you
spend a significant portion of your life doing it.
TR> You would be talking about false imprisonment, and the award would
TR> have huge, compared to what you were told, if that is what you were
TR> told. You were told correctly that there would have been a trial,
RB> Again, since you quoted about 3% of my post, let me re-iterate: if the
RB> cops lie, there's no case. The cops would lie, so there is no case.
Didn't you say that you had a witness? You could also file a complaint with
the police department and be given the opportunity to take a polygraph test.
You could also bypass the police department and file the complaint directly
with the FBI. They would also offer you the opportunity of a polygraph test.
You know, officers take those tests fairly often, and you would be surprised
to find out who is lying and who is telling the truth. Of course, I'm sure
you would call it a conspiracy between the FBI and the local police to
protect a law enforcement officer, wouldn't you?
 RB> It
RB> is truly attitudes like yours that discouraged me from doing anything
RB> about it. And, I don't plan on living here for the next two years.
If you are trying to get away from me, don't leave Ohio, as we already live
quite some distance apart. If you are talking about moving to another
country, you might have a much greater appreciation for our government, to
include the police, after a short period of time.
