AM> I would like any suggestions on geting ready for the Tech+ and Gen
AM> tests. How in the world does a person recieve cw at 13wpm and ubove?
AM> Also, I will soon need a cheep radio to get started. I have already
AM> taken the writen part of the Novice test and I will be taking the code
AM> or Tech test soon. I would like to buy a 2M radio when I pass the
AM> test. I would apreacieat any advice from you if you are a ham radio
AM> person. Thanks in advance. 73s to you and yours.
There are two really decent ham radio echos, Amateur_Radio and
HAM-ECHO where you can get skads of advice. Ask your sysop to
pick them up for you. There's a third echo called HAM, but the
moderator is a flake and I'd advise staying out of it.
If you have never learned the Morse code, start out at the 5wpm
level. That is all you need to pass for Novice and Tech+. Radio
Shack should have some code practice tapes for sale. You can also
order code tapes from ham stores and from the ARRL bookstore.
Then, practice, practice, practice!
Meet me over in HAM-ECHO after you get access to it for more
help if you need it.
