Up until yesterday I thought the main reason for a proxy
server was to allow an internal ip network to access the
outside world using only one ip address. Now I understand
our ISP is going to be installing an NT/Proxy server at
our site mainly for address caching.
Are addresses all they cache and is that the most common
use? Do they put these things in a "black box" or would
it most likely be a regular server?
