Dan was heard muttering to Matt Smith
about Terror

The problem of "terrorism" is complex: we have a wide variety of
individuals and groups that come under that heading, and, as with any
complex problem, requires complex solutions. Perhaps "response" would
be more accurate than "solution:" there isn't ever going to be a
solution as such.
We got yer basic enviro-wacko-kozynski, yer basic
right-wing-false-patriot-commando-of-doom, yer basic mujahadin...to
the Qaddafis and Husseins.

I'm in 100% agreement with this. Whenever we've retaliated against the
sponsors of terrorism those acts have slowed. And, as you've noted,
we've _not_ gone far enough.
State-sponsored terrorism is imo an act of war, and we should react
just exactly the same to an airline bombing as if a passenger liner
were torpedoed or a harbor were suddenly infested with zeros. The
reality is that it ain't gonna happen.
Instead we'll get more bullshit such as:
MS> JP> "People are reassured by the mere fact that measures are being
MS> JP> taken,"
The ole "Do something, anything" response.
Just as if Clinton had announced after the OKC bombing that we need
more gun control, the plebs will yammer for more restrictions on where
and how we can travel. All in the name of security.
And when those restrictions come to pass the terrorists will have won.
... Beware simple solutions to complex problems
