I've seen some of these police shooting matters go over 5 years on the
criminal end of it and over 10 years on the civil end of it. It is a real
nightmare, even if the shooting is completely justified. I would expect the
courts to handle this matter carefully, since we are talking about a human
life, but many of the cases go to gross overkill in the court procedures.
