Hi Mark,
Yeah I agree about the expensive with regards to Dive Winnipasauke.
I think that they actually take pride in that fact (which is not meant
as a complaint as there are certain consumer philosophies out there in
which the lowest price is not the hot issue). I did have a bit of
trouble there with respect to an older regullator but that was
partially the fault of a former employee and the original manufacturer.
I was able to resolve the problem quite easily at a couple of other
shops so it turned out OK but the whole affair did kind of turn me off
on US Divers. Other people have tole me that my problem came at a time
when other things were happening at USD so maybe the situation is better
now I don't know. At any rate I tend to frequent North Atlantic Scuba
down in Hampton for the most part although the trip up to Tommy's in
Portland can be worth it for the variety of stuff that they carry.
One last thing on the photography. You might want to practice with
the camera on land before diving much with it if the lenses and such
will allow it. The exposure settings will be different than underwater
but you'll get familiar with the operating quirks in an easier
environment.
Be wet and well.
Dennis
