We have private insurance and the rates are good.  My insurance for my
near-new 2003 Honda is around $665 per year.  I'd assume it would climb if
I owned more than one vehicle.

But I get a healthy break because of my safe driving record (now over 10
years) and may get a break because I'm a lawyer.  When I first acquired my
coverage in 1989, it was with a carrier providing group automobile
insurance to members of the Canadian Bar Association.
