| subject: | I couldn`t resist |
following up a message from Roy J. Tellason to all: RJT> I couldn't resist taking a look at the smaller of the two last RJT> night. It's a power supply. Two outputs, apparently. One is RJT> rated at 24 volts, _10 amps_. The other is a slightly higher RJT> voltages, labeled "charger", so this is apparently designed to RJT> provide some battery backup. RJT> So I snagged it. If nothing else, it should provide some very RJT> usable parts. RJT> What the heck would you do with 24 volts? About the only stuff I RJT> have that needs that is a whole mess of relays... And maybe the motors on 8 inch floppy drives. :-) I hauled the thing in here tonight and opened it up. There's a *BIG* ferroresonant transformer in there! And a line filter, and some rectifiers, and a big cap after that, besides the AC cap on the primary side. There appear to be a number of wires coming out of that transformer, was wondering if I could rewire it to get 12 volts out but I'm not so sure at this point. Anybody out there into messing with these things? ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 379/1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
