| subject: | Accidentally pulled out m |
He was playing up and refusing to go back in his cage. I had to go
out, so I tried to pick him up, as I have done countless times before.
This time, he managed to slip through my fingers and jump from the top
of the cage at the moment my hand closed around him. Somehow I managed
to get a grip on his tail as he took flight, leaving me holding five
long, bloody tail feathers (including the two big, main ones)... :(
After his initial squeak of pain, he sat on the floor and wiggled his
butt for a couple of minutes with a violated expression on his face,
but seemed fine after that. There didn't appear to be any more
bleeding and he seemed happy enough when I put him back in his cage.
Will the feathers grow back after being pulled out at the roots?
Will he still be able to fly without them?
I feel really bad about this and I hope that he won't hold it against
me.
