Some recent messaging about Quicken's password prompts this - don't
depend on it. I retrieved a passworded account for a friend's business
because he didn't even remember making the account. It was a record a
former employee made of petty theft. It's fairly easy to crack, but
Quicken probably wouldn't appreciate me explaining, so I won't. Passwords
on your programs are moderate security against casual snooping, but if you
want real security, keep the data records on removable media and always
take it with you to store in a secure place. This isn't a critisism of
Quicken; no data on your hard drive is really secure, some are just easier
to crack than others.
