-> DE> Try...Consolidated States Transportaion...beats me where the X
-> comes DE> in, but that's what it stands for...
-> I'd like to know where you got this information from...because this
-> is the first time I've ever heard that vanicular for CSX. The X
-> stands for Corporation, as is on many freight cars UTLX, GATX, etc...
-> The C stands for Chessie System
-> The S stands for Seaboard System.
->
-> It has been suggested that the X has a secondary meaning of
-> "Consolidation", and the many minor roads that aren't technically
-> parts of Chessie or Seaboard.
->
-> That would give some credibility to what you said above, but the word
-> STATES has NEVER been associated with CSX in any capacity as far as I
-> know. And by the way, I live in NS/CSX territory, and although I am
-> an NS man myself, I have many CSX friends, and I have read a great
-> deal about the CSX. This is where I get my information from.
this came from a few years ago I worked Patrol security, and one of my
patrol sites was a CSX office in Walnut Creek Ca. and I asked them one
day what CSX stood for, and that's what the told me...
