Get the patch for R12c3... This should take care of many little problems
(in exchange for adding a few more). Also, set your minimum swap file area
to about 800kB. Also make sure you have at 4X the harddisk space than the
file size of the file you are working on. Another problem... MANY OF THE
486DX2-66 CHIP THAT ARE OUT THERE ARE NOT CUT OUT TO RUN AT 66MHZ!!!
Frequent crashes on those system are a definite sign of a dreaded CPU failure
in the future. Cheap fix for this is to get a BIG (4") fan mounted inside
the CPU box and have the air flow directed over the CPU chip and, if
possible, the memory too.
Those fans mounted on the heatsinks fail a lot more often than you think and
do not push enough air to keep a 486DX2-66 cool.
