We as a group do not wear black all the time. :)
I went to Tulum and looked at the ruins and did not even go into
Cozumel, after spending a week there diving, i could not think of a good
reason to go.
The trip I took was on Carnival, they offer diving (one
afternoon/2dives) as a side excurion from the cruise.  The situation
seems to be set up for the person that does not dive much or is a
newbie.  The fee structure included the rental of fins, mask, bc, ect.
