I think I start with the gnostic gospels since they seem somewhat divergent.
It is the divergence from the regular stuff pushed by the local clergy that 
got my interest.

What is your opinion on the claim Jesus was a contender for the throne?
There seems some substance to the claim he had good connections with the
zealots.
