Replying to a message from JIM WELLER 1:123/140 to GORD HANNAH, About Vehicles, On Fri Feb 13 2004 JW> Does your propane tank ever gel in extreme cold? Not yet. The secret is simple plug the vehicle in, keep the air clean, and it will not let you down. I use 10-30 Amsoil in my car. JW> Perhaps you keep your car in a garage to prevent this from JW> happening? Nope never had a garage I could ever use, besides in the interest of safety one is advised NOT to park in a garage, if there is a leak seeing that propane is heavier than the ambient air, it sinks to the floor and if there is a stray spark then boom. JW> I'm sure Dawson Creek hits -38 once in a while! The coldest I have seen in recent times here is -57C with out a windchill. And my vehicle started just fine, ran like a top when others were not running at all. This was one of my straight propane vehicles, 1985 Dodge pick-up. Here is a break down of what I have had that was propane powered: 1981 Ford Granada 4 cyl, Factory propane, approx. 100 made. Impco. 1985 Dodge P/U 8 cyl after market. Impco. 1984 Pontiac Parisenne V8 dual fuel after market. Vialle. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. We are a fine board trying to make it better. http://www.pris.bc.ca/ghannah ghannah{at}pris.bc.ca Cheers!
