True, but you don't have to call native methods in Java to get good
functionality, in C++, you have to.

In that regard, so is java and any other language that allows you to call
platform specific methods.

The language does, but something written in C++ for WIn32 will only run
under Win32. it's the nature of the beast, C++ is a generic language that
has platform specific methods.
