Mostly from word of mouth, and being impressed with some lightly loaded
provider's site, and searchine for NS1-4 there, and seeing whether it's a
public server.  For a while after 9/11, this was essential survival tactics
in Manhattan - lots of stuff went through downtown... well, you know the
rest.

This is not a sophisticated technique, and on a big network it would screw
with load-balancing, lots.  Caveat, etc., etc.
