* EleBBS Support List Hi Bill, > Has there ever been a way figured out how to enter over 30 files areas any > way other than one by one, manually? I used to use ADDROM by Mark Williamson, which was a freeware RA 2.0 utility that reads every directory on a CD or path, or from a dirlist.txt file which you can edit. It then adds all the directories to your FILES.RA automatically. The only problem that like many classic RA utilities, this was written for RA 2.0 and not 2.5x. RA changed the FILES.RA structure in version 2.5 when Andrew added the FileDataBase and file indexing features. Here is what I suggest: 1. Backup your existing FILES.RA and FILES.RDX. Just to be safe also backup FGROUPS.* MESSAGES.* and MGROUPS.*. 2. Use ADDROM as described in the docs. I think it saves the new FILES.RA to another filename, so copy that back to FILES.RA. You can download ADDROM.ZIP from the BBS Archives. 3. Erase FILES.RDX (the index to FILES.RA). Hopefully you have not reordered any of your file areas as any reordering will be lost by doing this. 4. Run RA20xto250.exe (this came with RA 2.50, and is used to upgrade the 2.0 FILES.RA and MESSAGES.RA files over to 2.50 format, and it also will recreate any missing index files. That should do it... It's been about 10 years since I did this but it used to work great.. hopefully I remembered the steps. :) Regards, Mike _______________________________________________________________ --- Internet Rex 2.29* Origin: The gateway at The Snake (2:280/4312.101) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 280/4312 774/605 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
