the difference for me is does it tell you? For example I installed the
current version of frontpage on a machine today, after the install it asked
if I wanted to check for patches, told it sure. It downloaded a patch,
applied it, then asked if I wanted to check for more patches, told it sure
again. It downloaded more patches then didn't ask if I wanted to check
again, so I checked anyway and there were no more patches.

That's better, I can live with that even if it's silly in that I already
answered once that I wanted the patches so it never should have needed to
ask the second time.
