BR:>Hi,
BR:>I'm new to modems, and I'm having an U/L problem that I haven't been able
BR:>to solve myself:
BR:>I tried U/Ling two ZIP files to three different local BBS's. This was my
BR:>first try with files, although I've been U/Ling much smaller QWK packett
BR:>replies for several weeks without a problem.
(deleted for brevity)
BR:>I'm using QmodemPro for Windows 1.11c and a Hayes Ult/Optima 144
BR:>fax/modem set at 19,200 bps, Zmodem protocol with CTS/RTS On, DTE
BR:>locked, full duplex and ANSI emulation set at 018.
don't know what you mean by emulation set at 018 but as long as its ansi
doesn't matter. Now do you have an internal or external modem, this
makes a difference. If internal, use a utility to check your 16550 to
see if its functioning properly, if its faulty, it can affect uploads.
If external, then you need a 16550 serial card. You should be seeing an
output buffer overflow just before it aborts, also does it abort to the
bbs or just drops carrier without warning (and look closely at the cps
rates, if it starts dropping steadily, then it's definitely a buffer
problem with the serial port, meaning you need a 16550 uart chip if
internal or a serial card with it for external use.
BR:>I started with the speed set at 115,xxx baud and reduced it to 57,xxx,
BR:>then finally to 19,200, but that didn't solve the problem.
with a 14400, never a need to set it higher than 19200, a lot of bbs's
lock their settings at this speed.
