Did you live in the Aleutian Islands or the mountains on the penninsula? The
closest I ever got to there was the three years we spent in Anchorage - a
beautiful place, especially if you like snowy winters (which I do!). One of

favorite things was watching the "termination dust" come down the Chugach
mountains starting in late August...
While I was up there, I remember, they changed the state to TWO time zones,
instead of the origional three or four! I remember them saying something
bout
having to get up at 3am to conduct business with the lower 48! It was funny
watching the national news...they treated Alaska like it was a whole
ifferent
country! Maybe it was... ;)
