It is with great pleasure that I answer Geno's post...
How?
I would be curious to compare your new to you sloop to mine. I
own a Landfall 38'. I would like to know your "on deck" length and
displacement. I could have obtained a sloop as you now have but I
thought that as the transom on the Landfall was reversed slightly, that
it was a larger (?) sloop than the 41'. Your transom is not really
"living" space even if it adds to the look and water line when heeled.
My NICOU weights 16,600 bare.
Did you get the Martek or are you going to invest in a Maxprop?
I installed an ALPHA 4404 auto-pilot in mine and let me tell you
that it has never been out of service. What a great unit. So far above
the Autohelm, these are gadgets! The screw-jack is at 20 degrees to the
fore-aft line. Yeap, just about parallel to the center line. Then, the
short tiller is at 70 degrees to the C/L. I did not tell the auto-pilot
that it was not aligned with the way that others try to mount their A/P
and so far it does not know and works away like Flynn. I used a
carpenter's square and when on "0", all is at 90 degrees. I had to
remove the Edson quadrant and I mounted it upside-down. This way: `--'
Instead of the way the sloop was built. It allowed me to have the A/P
tiller longer. That reduced the "trow" but increased the power. When
motoring and if you look back, the wake is a great circle.
Would you like to have a cheap Sat-Nav receiver? I paid $1100
Cdn for it and it is yours for $200 Cdn. I will pay S/H. ;-))))
May you have beam winds.
... The Boeing 767-300 is the only way to fly. Ask me!
