I guess it wouldn't have been so bad if the bird hadn't just been dumped on

without our even being asked if we wanted it...:)  I did kinda get used to 
he
darned bird after a while.  The biggest part of it I suppose was that I knew 
absolutely nothing about birds, much less conures.  The only *pet* I had when 
I was growing up was a cat, and that was because we lived out in the country 
and it kept the mice down...:)

We knew that she missed us, because Mark's (my husband) sister went over and 
took care of the bird while we were gone.  She said that Connie (the bird) 
didn't talk, didn't eat, and didn't want to do anything.  As soon as we got 
home and she heard all the noise in the house again, she started yelling 
and screaching at the top of her lungs...:)  I guess she's doing alright, now 
that she's in with a male.  The last time we saw her, she had settled down 
quite a bit from when we had her.  
I took a quick look at a reference book about parrots when I was at the 
library a few days ago.  Didn't really have time to look very long, but some 
of the pictures were absolutely gorgeous.  I will definitely have to look at 
that book again.  Too bad that the book is a reference book and couldn't be 
checked out of the library.  I'll have to see if there's another book to be 
checked out so I can take my time looking at.
