Did I misunderstand something or > are you just no longer with them? > I have a new job. One which I can talk about. I have had it since before the (UK) election. I was having to be a sun person to all extents & purposes when I was going into online gambling, credit card, mobile phone etc. companies to have a little look about. Personal information rich companies. I even had a desk etc at GMP & got t wander along to some of scott's boster speeches. Maybe it's just me but corporate enthusing US style.....ummm anyway... However I have done my Bob the Big Brother Builder (B4) stint & while the ppl in the donut in Cheltenham were keen, I've done all the FCO & mil & home office stuff I want to do for a long long time. So now I'm pulling together the NHS progam for IT which is nice coz (A) I can talk about things.....now that the election is over as I was given a "if you think what you were doing before was sensitve then you ain't seen nuthing compared to your post in an election campaign" talk. Apparantly health is a major electoral issue & I was not to talk to anyone about anything wrt what I was up to till the votes were counted. (B) It's actually helping people rather than seeking to control them. I have become jaded wrt power. Fairly chunky project 70 odd million punters, 700 million prescriptions every year, huge medical imaging files etc.etc. Oh & a budget somewhere between.....well to quote the an old article coz obviously I still have to work off the "already public domain only" rule: http://www.computerworld.com/printthis/2004/0,4814,97140,00.html "Last month, the U.K. government's Department of Health announced that its 10-year estimate for the cost of the project had jumped from $11.4 billion to between $27 billion and $55 billion." It's a long story but in essence I was involved a while back in specifying & trying to stop people b*ggering up a wholly new sort of ID'ing called LRS (Legitimate Relationship Service) which looked at what your need for the information was etc. e.g. just coz I'm a doctor that doesn't mean I can look at my wife's records etc. Job done & back to B4 or....possibly LRS is part of B4 but I couldn't possibly comment. Oh & I get to work in Leeds which is nice for the wife rather than bizarre places down south or "on site". Now I just have to drag health care out of being the "world's largest cottage industry" & luckily given the budget pointed to above, I can get a lot of people's attention. I should point out that while I can say more than I used to be able to, I can not talk specifics & if you wish specifics I have to direct you to a pr/communications office.
