subject: ZyXEL Elite 2864I just hangs

Hi there.
I have a ZyXEL Elite 2864I modem that has worked flawlessly for about a month
now. Just today, it started to really act up. After haveing my BBS waiting
for callers (issuing ATZ0 every 5 minutes), it just stops accepting any
commands.
I have also tried to use a terminal via the comport (that runs at 115200
locaked baudrate), and have seen that after about 20 seconds of inactivity, I
just can't write any commands at all. TXD and RXD LEDs are not showing
anything.
Also, if I get a connect, it can just drop the connection, even if I'm in the
middle of writing something on the system I am connected to.
Is there anything special I should look for? Or do I have to have a ZyXEL
representative take a look at the modem?
PS: I know my settings are good, as it has been running for a month now, and
_nothing_ has changed. It just "became" so. The only thing that could be a
factor, is that it has been standing on top of a external USR V.alottothings,
and I noticed that the bottom of my ZyXEL became very warm. Can something
have been destroyed inside the ZyXEL?
Ps2: the number in the origin is for the time being out of function, due to
this.
