From: "Gary Britt" I avoid that by using ZtreeWin (http://www.ztree.com/html/ztreewin.htm) which is a win32 console app (xtree like looking but with direct Long File Name, Win32 API Support, continuously improved, very cheap, and an unbelievable number of enhanced features. There are many things you can do with it to manage files and disks quickly and easily that just can't be done from windows explorer. Very popular with many network admin guys. Free to try a fully functional version, and not a big download. It shows all files and never hides any. It shows all file extensions. You can quickly bring into a group window all files that meet certain criteria, in every directory on a single disk or in every directory on every disk. You can then perform operations on these files like rename, delete, search for hex or text strings, you name it. No click click click, and you don't have to tell it twice.
