No. My prescriptions weren't changed.
A while later, my ladyfriend suggested that I should have laser surgery
to correct my vision, so I wouldn't need glasses - at least, for
distance. I decided to consult the surgeon who had fixed the glaucoma,
and his advice was strongly *not* to do it. He said that every laser
procedure reduces the eye's sensitivity to low light, so it can see
less well in dim conditions. People who have received several laser
surgeries often have significantly reduced sensitivity. I have already
had one, which was fully justified under the circumstances, and my
low-light vision still seems to be pretty good. But the effect is
cumulative, so having further laser surgeries, especially for
non-essential reasons, might well cause a significant loss of acuity.
So I still wear glasses.
