From: "Frank Haber" So, JohnC, IBM/Lenovo has switched over to Java for the update utils, support snoop, etc., right? Are they more friendly? Less cranky? (Confession: I was always confused on T42s with IBMs "nework locations" profile thing being hot at the same time as the Microsoft stuff. I was always out of sync with one or the other. I didn't have the machine in my hot hands for long enough to get used to it, though.) Question: If you have an IBM carrier, can you slap an alternate HD in a T42 without setting up the HD password stuff? (Not a second HD, an alternate boot HD.) That always scared the pants off me. What if it goes south? Goodbye machine and data until you buy another $1000 motherboard? --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
