| subject: | Re: Levitation... and GO |
06-29-05 07:13, Miles Maxted told James Bradley about Re: Levitation... How do, Miles? MM> Hey, we get the Letterman show here - JB> MM> Don't praise me - Canadian engineer Marshall McCluhan invented the MM> Global Village that gets Letterman to the ends of the earth MM> daily...(met McCluhan once, many moons ago). Memory is telling me he was a Communications Prof. Hey... If he also knew how to plug in a TV or multi-plex... I have renewed admiration! Speaking of McLaren... Wasn't it Marshal McLaren that pioneered a lot of animation techniques at Canada's Nation Film Library? JB> See, normal kids try to hide their wounds, and learn how to treat JB> lacerations at emergency wards through experience. Either that, or JB> we'd just wee on it. Oh, and when we puke our guts out, we *lock* JB> the door to the washroom. MM> Heh ! Teaching in a NZ country school once, the timid kid at the MM> staffroom door with a hurting foot was told by the senior woman to MM> wait until teachers had finished their lunch. I went outside to MM> have a look, and found he was right - his foot WAS hurting - he'd MM> somehow pierced it with a 6 inch nail.... WA!!! I just know the kid was stoically wondering when someone would notice there was an issue worth address! Heck, I put a rusty tack into the very *point* of my heal, that kept me from baseball practice for a week, so I could only imagine what a through-and-through could do to curtail your recess! JB> You know, it's just about time that we see another aluminium clad JB> composite sports car for the masses. I read longingly at the MR2 II JB> turbo. Supposed to be some power::weight to contend with there! MM> The new Mazda MX is supposed to be pretty cool - but if you really MM> need to go, how about the latest Bugatti Veyron - 1001bhp and 0- MM> -186mph in 14 seconds ? Health issues, and winter issues... 1001 at the brakes, and *only* that kind-a acceleration.... You tellin' me Bugatti put two more wheels on it? Unfortunately, the weather and my "bum" hip, does keep me from straddling a scooter, and even if it was a possibility from my restrictions, the rain and snow tend to take the enjoyment out of a two wheeler for the majority of the year. JB> BTW, D'ya know much about the SHO Kawasaki engine? MM> Less than nothing - motocycle engine ? Very high power to weight MM> ratio ? Excellent for powering go-carts and club racers ? Now... THERE'S an idea! "Call up Monster Garage. Have *I* got a project for *you!*" No idea, if the series is called SHO, but they did OEM the Ford Taurus, *SHO*. Super High Output, is one way to say it. I have no torque or HP rating on it, but the car used to beat our '68-'69 Mustang Highway Cruisers the RCMP used for the ultimate in get-up-and-go. THIS WAS AN OFF THE LINE FACTORY DRIVE! If I'm not mistaken, the engine used three valves/, and either variable timing, or higher lift for go-no-go performance, but I'd doubt there wasn't *some* issues with maintaining that much rubber on the road. My niece's (once-removed) hubby tried to sell me one, but he is a Florida State Drug Detective, so...* Origin: -=-= Calgary Organization CDN (403) 242-3221 (1:134/77) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 134/77 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
