I've seen a parrot (female Red-Bellied, i think) get nervous after jumping into
a full bath dish.  She instinctively spread her wings over the surface for
bouyancy and propelled herself towards the edge with her feet and wings.  

It wasn't the breast stroke and she never put her head under water, but one
could argue that she "swam to the other side."
