I used to love to help by putting the laundry through the wringer. (did I just 
say that??? ....and date myself???)  I managed to keep my hand out of there 
though as I had a rather nasty esperience with an electric ironing machine.  
It had a roller like the wringer too, but it was HOT.  Got my hand in there 
somehow when I was about 5.  

I don't suppose too many of you have ever seen one of those, and I wish I had 
a picture to show you.....(just trying to be on topic, eh)
