subject: MQBE and QBE block bragging

Well, I just wanted to brag a little on the beautiful blocks I got this
month in both of the exchanges I won. These blocks are to die for.....

In MQBE I got:

1) a beautiful tree from Julia Sidebottom of alternating reds and greens on
a white
on white background. The block was foundation pieced and is lovely.

2) Another foundation pieced tree from my sister, Pat Knox of a beautiful
green
on two backgrounds -- the sky of blue with white stars and big white
snowflakes
and the ground of a white on white with silver stars. The block is sashed
in red.
Really lovely.

3) A gorgeous star from Teresa Herman of red with green holly leaves and a
green with
gold stars on it. There are two background(?) fabrics -- one of a grey,
red and green
lattice with black centers and a off-white with green wreath print. The
piecing
on this block is magnificent.

4) A friendship star block from Slyvia Lewis of a red with gold stars and a
green and red floral center on a white on white background. So pretty and
really
stands out and catches your eye!

5) Peggy Hood sent me a predominatately red Roman STripe (??) blcok with
alternating
red and green stripes. One of the fabrics has Xmas lights on it and my
kids just
love it!!!

I hope I got the block names right, ladies -- there are so many names for
often the same block!!!

For QBE I got the following:

1) A big friendship star from Slyvia Lewis in the same colors as she did
the MQBE
block. Again quite lovely.

2) An appliqued tree block from Teresa Herman that she decorated with
stitch patterns off her Bernina 1630 machine -- the tree is green on a
white on white background. The stitch garlands are done in golds, blues
and reds. So pretty.

3) Julia Sidebottom hand appliqued a candle made of blue material with a
candle
print on it and holly leaves at the base done in a green Xmas fabric with
Xmas
trees printed on it and a flame of brown, red and orange swirl fabric. The
background
is white and the block is sashed with green Xmas fabric printed with
Xmas poinsettas. The she top-stitched stars around the block in gold
thread -- Sensational!!!

4) Peggy Hood did me another Roman Stripe block of Xmas fabrics -- just
a bigger block this time!!

5) Pat Knox did me a wonderful star (Kaliedoscope, I think) on a white on
white background in blue fabrics with gold stars or gold speckles. So
pretty.

6) Holly Sullivan did a beautiful "hole in the barn door" block in green
Xmas fabric with bears on it holding a candy cane and red with gaily
wrapped Xmas packages printed on it. Beautiful work and such a cheerful
block with the reds and greens!

7) And last but certainly not least -- Dorothy Ferris hand pieced a
absolutely
glorious star done in a red with white dots and a green with red and blue
Xmas ornments print on white- on-white background. If only my points
matched
as well...... I love hand-piecing but am too cowardly to try much of it
myself since my seams are never straight and my handsewing is atrocious!
Thank
you so much, Dorothy.

I want to thank each of you for the time and thought you put into each of
these beautiful blocks. I will always treasure them as being from my
cyberfriends on the fido!!

I hope this month's winners have as much fun as I did anticipating each
days' mail -- hoping for another squishie. What wonderful "therapy"!!!
