   The ABIT AT7 doesn't have the Designed for Windows logo so I would =
have avoided it. I'm not sure that any PT880 based motherboards are. I =
couldn't find any. There are PT800 motherboards with the logo as well = as
plenty of other socket 478 motherboard that are.

  It was about four or five days until it was booting again. At first I=20
  did an upgrade install, but then I decided to start clean and =
reinstall.=20
  That was probably a week later. I didn't immediately reactivate =
because=20
  I thought it would be a good idea to wait until I was sure the new=20
  motherboard and installation was working acceptably before =
reactivating=20
  to avoid possibly having to reactivate a second time. So I waited as=20
  long as possible, and now the grace period expired.

  As it happens, I am having some difficulty with the new motherboard =
(an=20
  ABIT VT7) spontaenously rebooting every few days (both Windows and=20
  Linux, Linux more frequently). I am already dreading what will happen=20
  when I try to replace the motherboard yet again.
