GK> I do, actually. I was just wondering since Amazons are naturally
GK> accustomed to warmer weather. We have a cat too, so, between the two
GK> of them, I don't feel right letting the plade get too warm.
My Amazons are outside and it has been 98 degrees most afternoons.
Most of my birds are feeling uncomfortable with this heat and their
wings are drooping. I go around with the hose and give them a spray
and also wet under their cages.
Birds in their natural environment can seek out cooler places if
they get uncomfortable. When in captivity they are stuck with what we
choose as their comfort level.
Cats are much better at finding cool places it seems to me. My dogs like
to dig holes in the yard, darn it. The deeper down they go the cooler it
seems to be for them. I put water in the holes once a day so that the
ground stays damp for them.
Keep the AC on. If you need to set the thermostat a bit higher then
put a fan somewhere in the room to circulate the air.
