This posting and that of others led me to make a couple of test myself.
I used NODELIST.299 and RAR/2 here:
RAR/2 set to maximal compression on my 486 took 6:40 minutes to
compress the NODELIST to 890980...that's over 90k less than jar on
maximal if your numbers are correct and I had 17 active processes
running in the background while I was doing it!

RAR/2 set to normal compression took 1:00 minute and took the nodelist
down to 922637. This is 32 bit RAR for OS/2 I am running.

Neither seem to come close to RAR/2 ;)
