Concerning _QUESTIONS AND MORE QUESTI_, Carl Brown said to Troy H. Cheek in
SCANRADIO:
CB> I'm close to NYC, but in NJ. I may get a lot of action on some

CB> to be able to do this in my area. I'm not sure yet.
I guess just try it and see how things work. Around here, all the official
types have their own frequencies without any sharing, so it's not a problem
for me. (Tell me again how living out in the boonies is so bad...)
CB> My wife has bought me the RS 2042 scanner. She won't let me play with
it
CB> until after xmas though :(
I think you'll like it. 1000 channels seems like a lot, but once you start
autoprogramming... Only having 10 banks is a downer, however.
CB> Tell me more about the scanner mod. handbooks. where would I get a copy
CB> of this? Also, what newsletters are out there?
Scanner mod books are available wherever finer radios are sold. (Snicker)
Seriously, try

Describe as best you can what mod you're looking for and what scanner you
want to apply it to, and he can tell you which book it's in (if any). He
might also be able to scrounge up the mod from another source. Remember,
though, that he does this for a living, so his digging around for information
might cost you.
(If you're like me, and just curious about what mods are available, just
order all three of his books for $50 or so and read for the next month.)
I've also got an internet address, webpage, and some phone numbers around
here somewhere. I'll dig them up if you want. He also publishes World
Scanner Report, which is a great newsletter when he sticks to radios and
doesn't get off into Internet and PC's and other soapbox issues.
CB> My hands still work pretty good considering the abuse they take. I
CB> might consider making some changes depending on how well I pick up
signals
CB> with the new scanner.
I planned a lot of modifications to my Pro-43 and Pro-2042, but just never
got around to it. They do a lot of what I need just out of the box, and some
of the things I thought I couldn't live without, well, it turns out I could.
:-)
... They tore out my heart and stomped that sucker flat.
