No question needed about this: The gate IS broken!

That's absolutely correct.

Whenever you want to have Squish watching both try following sequence in squish.cfg:

Duplicates 
DupeCheck MSGID
DupeLongHeader

 has to be a number like 1, 1000, 100000, 50000000, whatever.

Put the statements into different lines like being written above and it
should work. If not, tell us version of Squish you're using, please. Over
here it works since years.

How to disable dupe checking (I do NOT recommend it!) -> RTFM. Scott did
a real good documentation, one must read it somewhat carefull only. :-)
