Hello, Joe...
Sunday January 11 1998, Joe Siegler said to Steve Quarrella:
JS> Well, I'll be honest, I wasn't really paying any attention to the
 JS> Rangers until 1995.
Shame, Joe, shame...didn't you know all the teams and the big players when
you were growing up and trading baseball cards? :) In any event, while I
may live here, I really don't follow the Rangers that much. I STILL root for
my home team, just hoping to have a repeat of '68 or '84 somewhere along the
lines. :)
JS> I know you and I went to a couple of games out in Arlington Stadium
JS> in 1993, but I couldn't tell you jack about the games at all.
We weren't at Arlington five minutes for our first game, and Canseco dropped
the ball right in front of us. Wish I had been there when he knocked it over
the wall with his head. :)
JS> I know the team now, but don't know much of it's past, even though my
JS> wife bought me that book that one of the Rangers Broadcasters wrote
JS> last year about the history of the team.
Ex-Washington Senators team that moved here in 1972 (72? Someone, help me
out here). You ARE aware the Billy Martin managed the Rangers at one point?
Do you remember when Len Randle punched out manager Frank Lucchesi? How
about when Eddie Stanky (-ie?) took over as manager for, oh, what? One game?
Lots and lots of Ranger highlights, but no titles to go with 'em. In any
event, I STILL have my playoff tickets from 1996. :)
