subject: Kookyroo Poo.....

-> Horse and Mule feed....maybe, maybe not. It is awfully sticky
-> stuff. It will be worse than the corn on your floor.
Well, Dad kept his birds outside so it wasn't such a problem for him....
I do seem to remember it being sort of sticky..... it's been forty years
since I've seen any.
We put out Wild bird seed for the yard birds but the Kookyroo doesn't
much care for that either. Last time I put that in his feed-tray he
looked at me like a bull at a bastard calf, turned and stalked away,
clearly saying HMPH! how revolting!
He is certainly funny with a full head of Milo-maize! He'll go _jump_
on it to hold it down, pecking at it fiercely to get the seeds to come
off. He gets lots of enjoyment out of that. The little skinny heads of
millet confuse him no end. They're not 'stiff' enough to suit him, and
I think he thinks they're dead snakes. He pecks them and then jumps
back in alarm when they shake.
Right now, he's in there entranced by the rainbow from a crystal swaying
in the sun, as it swings back and forth through his cage. His eyes
follow the rainbow like a fan watching a tennis match.
What 'size' grit does a dove need? I put a little river sand in his tray
once and he made a terrific mess with it. (He makes a terrific mess
with almost ANYTHING!)
He's taken to cooing whenever he hears the dogs bark outside. Even if
it's two oclock in the morning!
