as well. They loose sight of who they work for (in many ways MS as a
culture never understood this right from its inception)

You work for the customers.

Its their needs, wants, and desires that justify your very existence.

ex. There's a damn good reason why NT and W2K implement the OS/2 subsystem.
A reason that has little to do with Microsoft's own internal needs since
they're fully capable of fixing/removing any internal dependencies they may
have on it.  MS (and others) shipped a bunch of OS/2 API products that
people continue to use in spite of their best efforts to get them to stop
doing so ;->
