And here's some replies I sent to you that I doubt you got.
EDGJ>>Dirhl Dunnegan posted this message in comp.os.geos in regard to the
EDGJ>>controversy over the font cd...
This message was a reply to a message I had someone post for me. If you
like, you can crosspost my reply back to comp.os.geos
EDGJ>>You have never paged me that I didnt return the call I am aware of and
EDGJ>>if you were so desperate why didnt you WRITE A LETTER ???
I paged you 4-5 times every week since the last week of May. And each
time, I followed the instructions, left my number and got the exit
message telling me "Thank You" before I hung up. Before that you -did-
answer my pages, but that was before you dumped Geos. Then all of a
sudden, no answer to my pages? And if I did write a letter, you would
answer that rather than my page to your phone? Yeah, right.
EDGJ>>And NO I do not now nor never have run a "computer business" I only
EDGJ>>was doing some Geos stuff to help support Ensemble. I dont know where
EDGJ>>you got that crap from but my primary business has ALWAYS been
EDGJ>>otherwise.
Then why on your stationary to it state, "Motion Picture Sound,
Projection, Engineering, Design, Instruction, Software and Equipment
Electronic Publishing/Computer Consulting Services" ? This does not
signify a computer-related business?
EDGJ>>FAX? The fax line is the same as my computer line. If I know you are
EDGJ>>sending a FAX I would turn it on, otherwise i use it for the internet.
My advertised fax number is also the same as my modem line and my voice
phone. My fax switch and the fax/modem software both determine what
kind of call is coming in and responds accordingly. You can send a fax
to me anytime as long as my computer is turned on and the only time it
is turned off is if there is a lightning storm going on.
EDGJ>>All 6 of the people that ordered the cd were offered an immediate
EDGJ>>refund, ALL said they would wait for us to try and recover some of the
EDGJ>>losses if we could.
Then why are messages floating around from some of them saying they
ordered it and have not heard one word? Are they lying?
EDGJ>>>out second hand, after the fact, that he had dumped GEOS. He has not
on
EDGJ>>Whether or not I support Geos anymore is none of your business. And
EDGJ>>there is no reason for us to sever our relationship until the cd is
EDGJ>>finished, which it is not.
Common courtesy would have dictated nothing more than a brief phone call
to tell me I would probably be seeing messages about your decision about
Geos and an update on the CD. However, you chose to ignore me and
left me dangling in the wind, wondering what in the *ell was going on.

EDGJ>>DF>I purchased it because it included a font I needed to match a
EDGJ>>DF>customers existing artwork. Six months previous to this, I had
purchas
EDGJ>>DF>the font from Bitstream for $189 to use with another DTP program.
EDGJ>>If you had to buy the font from a company, isn't it illegal for someone
EDGJ>>else to distribute it?
There are lots of shareware fonts that are almost identical to some of
the expensive commercial fonts. Some of them, you would have to study
under a magnifying glass to detect the differences. They might have a
similar name or it might be completely different and off the wall.
And it goes without saying that the commercial ones are a little more
"perfect" than the shareware ones and you normally get all the complete
character set with control characters. But how many of those fancy
commercial font companies release their font in the Geos format?

EDGJ>>rarely use the extra fonts that came on my CDROM. I've only had bad
EDGJ>>experiances with non-Geoworks fonts anyway. I downloaded one of the
EDGJ>>featured Christmas files AOL had, a Christmas font. I tried it in
EDGJ>>FontMagick and it crashed the system.
I've got a Christmas font in my collection. Actually there are 2
separate files. One is the plain font and the other is the same font
decorated with tiny graphics around each letter. They both work fine
but then all my fonts are tested before they are ever sent out since
each font is shown on one of my catalog pages. Each of the Geowrite
documents that make up each of sections in the catalog has between
100 & 200 fonts loaded, used and printed at the same time. So if any
were going to crash, they would definitely crash on me. And I have had a
few that I had to go back and convert again with some adjustments or
have completely left them out of the collection. The biggest problem
with converting the fonts is converting a decorative font that has
decorative control characters. Delete those characters from the font
and it normally converts just fine.
EDGJ>>CS> 2) He only posted in the newsgroup & on AOL, at best, as
EDGJ>>CS> far as I know.
EDGJ>>He said he advertised in Fidonet also, and he did put an advertisement
EDGJ>>on his web page, but then again his page required the newest browsers
o
EDGJ>>view, so most Ensemble users wouldn't be able to see it.
I did the advertising in the Geoworks Echo on Fido since he did not have
access to it. I also uploaded the Geos files that showed his web site
and the advertisement on it, to The Hole BBS (Stu, would you mind
deleting that file?) Supposedly he did the advertising on AOL,
Compuserve, Comp.os.geos and the Internet.
