You are looking at about one hour for the shoot, an hour or so for
processing, about an hour or a little more scanning, editing and burning to
CD, and of course the time for darkroom prints. On top of this is your
material costs, and above all, your skill;

"Will you take some pictures for me? I'll pay you for your time."

"My time is free. It's my skill that's worth something."

But ballpark?

If these are for people you know, and want to keep costs down, try $75 and
hour for the shoot and computer time, $25 per roll for the film and
processing, $15-20 for each 8x10 print on multigrade RC paper, $10 for each
5x7. If only one CD -- just toss it in gratis.

If the job is for strangers, up the costs on at least the prints, and the
hourly shooting rate. You can always bargain down. Don't lose money on the
deal, and don't undervalue your worth.

Good luck

Carl

I wish I could follow my own advise! :)

PS: I don't remember if it was you that asked about the people pushing the
tugboat away from the dock in a photo of mine. I just looked again, and saw
that the volunteers on the dock were pushing the bow away so the fender
could fit properly between the boat and the dock.
