28 Aug 97 12:33, Puleeeeze Brer Jack Schwendener, Dooooon't trow Mopar or
Walk? in dat der Briar Patch!
JS>
RW>> You're full of crap, Jack. I said 1967, 350 rods, had 5/16 rod
RW>> bolts. Even if they were 11/32, you missed the whole point. You
RW>> ASSumed I meant 327
JS>
JS> "Even if they were .... ?"
JS>
JS> They WERE 11/32, not 5/16 which you insisted. You are just plain
JS> WRONG. You are a tool and die guy? Go measure them!
If they were still around here, I would...In fact I wish they were still
around here, period.
RW>> rods, but I SAID 1967, 350 rods. They were only made that year.
RW>> 1968 they became 3/8 bolts...
JS>
JS> You know what? You're right about that!
I know I am..I don't BS anybody...
JS> I was finally able to chase down a guy who has actually seen a set
JS> of them. A one year only deal indeed and right you are about being
JS> big journal. But the bolts are 11/32, not 5/16.
If they're not 5/16, I still get an A+. If they truly were 11/32, then I owe
you an apology, sorry...
JS> So I apologize for doubting you about the one year only rod.
JS>
JS> Although I still can't understand why anybody would put something
JS> like that (mismatched rods) together, nor why a balance shop would do
JS> anything but send it right back .....
If you look in your wallet and find moths flying out at a time when you need
to buy parts for your car, do you wait until you've got the cash or do you
improvise?
When your only means of transportation is laying on the floor of your garage
in various array of broken parts, what's the fastest way to get it going
again. Sans a MasterCard or Visa...
I improvised because of my low cash dilemma. BTW, those rods weren't
available when I went to Chevy (c1970), I had no choice but to buy the 3/8
bolted rods.
However, I did choose to use two like rods on the same journal. As it turned
out, it was a good choice. No balancing was apparently needed, it performed
better than I had ever hoped it would... Just the expertise of an expert
engine builder. Some got, some don't...
JS> And I await your apology about the rod bolt size ....
I did already, but I don't concede the rod bolt size until I prove it for
myself..
... ...Every morning is the dawn of a new error...
