BOHICA, folks.
(And no, I'm not in favor of domestic violence)

FYI
Article in today's (7/26) edition of WSJ as seen online entitled
"Senate Overwhelmingly Clears Sex-Offender Database Plan" says the
bill just passed by the Senate contains a provision that would
prohibit those convicted of domestic violence from owning or
possessing firearms.
A little searching on Thomas turned up HR2980 as the bill in question
and Amendment number 5083 as being offered by Sen. Frank Lautenberg
(D, N.J.) which affects gun ownership. It amends US code 18 secton
922 near as I can tell. I was unable to find out how long the
prohibition on firearms ownership lasts once a person is convicted. I
was also unable to discover if any provision is made for LEO,
political, or military types who are convicted of domestic violence.
If not, and this goes into law, most of those who oppose freedom
should be disarmed. ;)
Since all the bills show are the changes to current law, it is
impossible to determine the effect without a copy of current law. If
anyone knows of an online source for this, please let me know.
