I'm not going to flame because I believe to each his/her own.
However, clipping really isn't just like a haircut. After I get a
haircut, I can still use my natural means of mobility, which is
walking. After being clipped, birds can no longer use their natural
means of getting around, which is flying.
You wouldn't have to safe-proof the entire house. I have one room
partitioned off using sheers on a tension pole across the doorways.
That way I can see the birds, they can see me, but they can't get out
of the room. You could birdproof just one room for them. However,
they're your birds, it's your choice how to care for them. Don't
worry about what anyone else says.
