All I remember is a minor flap several years ago.  MP3Pro was licensed, and
had to be paid for.  The free-software folks got their shorts in a twist.
Then Fraunhofer started charging for encoders.  Then everyone started
embracing DRM.

How naive we were.

(But I never heard anyone say Pro was worth anyone's attention.  I think
even ogg creamed it, for free.)
