KG>>AS>PM>The latest Albert Belle incident, where he elbowed the Milwaukee
KG>>AS>PM>2nd baseman is really infuriating. I sure hope that AL President
KG>>AS>PM>Gene Budig sits Belle down for 10 games, minimum.
KG>> Did you know that the current commissioner of baseball is also the
KG>>owner of the Braves?
Ted Turner is the commisioner now? Wow! Where have I been? Thanks.
He had better stay out of this because it seems
KG>>a little fishy to me that the suspension happed because of a play in
KG>>a game where the Indians were playing against his team.
Yeah, but that is why the league president handled the situation
almost entirely. Selig stayed silent for that very reason. Imagine if
the Brewers were contending. This is the biggest reason that the Great
Game needs to hire a commish. Seligs hands are tied in all matters
regarding AL teams, lest it looks as if his rulings would hinder some
other team while helping his. (For example, if he himself had
suspended Belle.)
KG>> It also seems to me that the Brewers were trying to provoke Albert
KG>>into doing something that would get him in trouble. First Vina
KG>>completely blocks the baseline while Albert is running from first to
KG>>second. then they hit him with a pitch not once but twice. Again Vina
KG>>blocks the baseline. Albert, like any player, had the right to try to
KG>>break up what could have been a double play. Vina was lucky that all
KG>>he got was a broken nose.
KG>> If Albert was running from third to home, no one would have faulted
KG>>him for running into the catcher to try to break up the play and score
KG>>a run. They wouldn't have blamed him if the catcher got hurt in a play
KG>>like that either. Happens all the time.
Although I think what Albert did was dirty, throwing his forearm, I do
tend to agree with you.
