-> Hello All,
->
-> I recently saw a strange looking antenna at a local state park and
-> after much browsing thru antenna books I found a picture that
-> identified it as a monopole antenna. It looks like a ground plane
-> vertical which has been bent over like half a folded dipole.
->
-> There was no other info except the name. Can anyone give me any
-> info on this style of antenna. I like odd equipment and antennas
-> because they stir up lots of good conversation.(especially if they
-> work)
By folding over the Vretical you can change the inpedence of the
feed point. As an example taking a 1/2 wave length vertical and folding
it over and grounding the end of the folded over section you change the
feed impedance from 75 ohms to 150 ohms. Bu having Two folded over
sections, One on each side of the vertical section you get a 300 ohm
feed point impedence in a vertical antenna. This should be covered in
the Radio Amateur's Handbook undeer Vertical HF Antennas.
