That doesn't always work, tell me there is never any time when you stay up
later than you should doing something online that you find really
interesting? Not that you did it on purpose but simply that you completely
lost track of time. I've been determined to go to sleep by 11pm and then
suddenly realized it's 2:15am before I knew it.

The time is a good safety net, set it to go off 15 or 20 minutes past the
time he should be offline, that way it's still a trust thing with a
doublecheck just in case.
